Hatley Health Care, Inc. received an overall rating of 4 out of 5 in the first quarter of 2026, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported. This is above the Alabama average of 3.0 for nursing homes.

During this period, the nursing facility offered 201 beds—82 more than the state average in Alabama as of the first quarter of 2026—and served an average of 90.6 residents.

Hatley Health Care, Inc. also recorded no fines or penalties during the first quarter of 2026.

Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau show the nation’s older adult population is rising as younger groups decrease. From 2020 to 2024, Americans age 65 and over grew by 13%, while those under 18 declined by 1.7%. Over the past 100 years, the country’s older adult population climbed steeply, from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.

A 2021 study indicates that close to half of this group—around 28 million people—could require long-term services and support. Further, the study predicts over a third may ultimately need nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, which provides insurance education. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
