Jefferson State Community College issued the following announcement on Nov. 19.

New scholarship can help cover spring semester costs at Jefferson State!

Jefferson State is committed to helping students during the strain of COVID-19, so during the 2021 spring semester Jefferson State is offering a Community Scholarship and 20 percent off certain non-credit courses. 

The Community Scholarship is available to the following students:

• For-credit students (new or continuing) who are pursuing one of the Career and Technical (CTE) programs listed below and enroll in a CTE course.

  – Computer Information Science

  – Manufacturing Technology

  – Construction Engineering Technology

  – Child Care and Support Services

  – Criminal Justice

  – Office Management and Supervision

  – Accounting Technology/Technician

  – Administrative Assistant and Secretarial

  – Hospitality Administration and Management

• Dual Enrollment students who are not already receiving the Dual Enrollment CTE Scholarship.
• Students who were admitted (conditionally or unconditionally) for Fall 2020 but did not complete their registration.
• Students who attended in Spring 2020 and/or Summer 2020 but did not enroll in Fall 2020 courses.
• Students who registered but did not finalize their enrollment for Spring 2020 and/or Summer 2020 and did not enroll the following semester.
• Non-credit and Fast-Track students registering for the programs will receive a 20% reduction in the course fee (see bottom section for more details).

Scholarship Details

• Application Deadline is Tuesday, March 9, 2021.
• The scholarship is for tuition only. Fees are not included.
• The scholarship can be used for up to 18 credit hours (i.e. 9 paid credit hours).  Any credit hours above 18 will be assessed at the normal rate.
• Courses covered by the scholarship must be of equal or lesser credit hour value than the paid course.  The “free” course will only be applied for equivalent credit hours of the purchased course.
• Students must be admitted to the College to apply for the scholarship.
• Students must be Degree-Seeking or be in the Dual Enrollment program. Transient students are not eligible.
• First-Time Freshmen, Transfer, Returning, and/or Continuing students must have a FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid Office to be eligible.
• Dual Enrollment students must provide documentation of citizenship status.
• The scholarship is for Spring 2021 only.
