City of Alabaster: Regional Transportation Operations Program

Regional Transportation Operations Program | City of Alabaster, Alabama

The city has been working with ALDOT over the past several months as part of its Regional Transportation Operations Program, which is designed to improve traffic signal operations along U.S. 31 from Calera to Homewood. ALDOT recently retimed signals along U.S. 31 to coordinate the lights along this route, which led to delays in turning onto U.S. 31 - especially at Highway 119 and Industrial Drive.

ALDOT has been responsive to our concerns, and retimed the turn lights earlier this week. ALDOT has also installed new traffic-sensing cameras at major intersections along U.S. 31 (visible on top of the poles in these photos) which will further reduce delays when they are activated later this month.

We appreciate everyone's patience as we've worked with ALDOT to help traffic flow more efficiently through the city.
