The Alabama Policy Institute (API) has announced its 2025 BluePrint for Alabama, a detailed 30-point agenda aimed at fostering free markets, limited government, and strong families in the state during the upcoming legislative session.
This annual roadmap is central to API's mission of advocating for effective governance and meaningful public policy reforms. The agenda is built on three foundational pillars: Free Markets, Limited Government, and Strong Families.
Under the Free Markets pillar, the agenda proposes eliminating the overtime tax, promoting home-based businesses, and reforming occupational licensing. For Limited Government, it includes initiatives like Right to Try 2.0, state budget reform, and enhancing transparency in federal funding and grants.
The Strong Families section focuses on increasing the age of majority for medical decisions, allowing homeschoolers access to extracurricular activities and technical training, and banning sexually explicit materials and performances in public spaces.
Alongside these proposals is the recently launched ALDOGE initiative. Together with this new plan, API aims to positively impact Alabama residents in 2025.
In addition to continuing 15 key proposals from its 2024 BluePrint—such as Certificate of Need reform and measures to protect minors—the new agenda introduces fresh initiatives. These include criminal justice reforms, enhanced transparency in regulatory processes, protection for women and girls, and an updated Right to Try initiative designed to provide patients with limited healthcare options access to innovative treatments.
